Established in 2018 and officially registered with the Government of Liberia in 2020, Action for Girls’ Empowerment (AGE) stands out as a non-governmental organization uniquely led by young women with a primary focus on advocacy. Located in Kakata City, Margibi County; AGE is committed to fostering a gender-inclusive and responsive environment. The organization strategically engages various stakeholders, including young women, children/adolescents, vulnerable/marginalized groups, parents, caregivers, local communities, policymakers, and development partners, to actively contribute to supporting girls and vulnerable people with essential services that transform their futures.

STATEMENT  Contributes to building healthy, inclusive, equitable, and sustainable communities by strengthening the capacities of young women and girls through outreach and advocacy, expanding access to SRHR and WASH services, economic empowerment and advancing a human rights–based approach.

AGE envisions a society free of discrimination, where every adolescents and vulnerable child has equal access to education, health, opportunities, and the freedom to thrive.

How Did We Start:

Growing up in Liberia, I witnessed the painful realities many girls and young women endure realities shaped by poverty, limited access to education, inadequate health services, and the denial of basic human rights. These weren’t just statistics; they were stories of dreams deferred, voices silenced, and lives constrained by systemic inequality.

It was from this lived experience that the vision for Action for Girls’ Empowerment (AGE) was born.

We work to address the gaps in access to basic sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), education, livelihood skills, and justice. AGE is not just an organization, it is a movement rooted in stories of struggle, resilience, and hope.
 As a young woman who has seen these injustices firsthand, I couldn’t remain a bystander. I was driven by an unshakable belief that change is possible when girls are empowered to reclaim their values, shape their destinies, and light the path for others. AGE was established with that very commitment to create space where girls and young women, especially those in marginalized communities, could rise above their circumstances and realize their full potential.

With a strong sense of purpose and integrity, she provides daily supervision and guidance to her team, fostering a collaborative environment aligned with the organization’s mission and vision. Her passion and leadership make her an invaluable asset, inspiring the team to work tirelessly toward meaningful change and improved opportunities for those they serve.

Jeremiah Villizu

Board member

 He comes with over ten years of experience in gender-focused initiatives and community development, he brings valuable expertise in applying a human-centered approach to his work. As a key member of the team, Jeremiah provides oversight and supervision for the organization’s programs, ensuring they are effectively managed. He also works closely with the project team and colleagues to support the seamless implementation of activities, helping to foster collaboration and guide the team toward successful outcomes in all project phases.
